'Transitions' (Primary) and 'Aim High, Achieve More' (Secondary)

 


As a franchise member of the National Black Boys Can and Excel 3, our schools workshops and presentations are designed to: ~Unleash the educational potentials of pupils ~Enhance self-image and to show respect for their schools effort to support their learning ~Create, support and encourage educational success ~Encourage pupils to pursue excellence regardless of their backgrounds ~Encourage parents and pupils to acknowledge and appreciate the positive contributions schools make to their lives.

Parents, Teachers and Pupils who participate in our "Transitions Workshops" are supported to prepare primary school pupils age 9 and 10 years. We aim to develop their key skills to deal with the challenges of entering secondary school. The workshop is designed to empower the school, community and Pupils to remain focused on their academic and social aspirations to: ~Set goals ~Develop leadership skills ~Manage time effectively ~ Rise to the challenges of entering secondary school ~Deal effectively with peer pressure & behaviomanagement
~Know their smart objectives We also facilitate Teachers and Parents engagement seminars that are delivered to improve parent's aspirations for their children's academic outcomes whilst engaging with the school and its partners.

 

TURNAROUND PROJECT This project delivers a range of intensive interventions over 12 weeks to deter and disengage young people age 13 to 18 youths from anti-social and criminal behaviors. Strategies and materials used are intended to set worthwhile goals, identify positive role models, connect with talents and aspirations and become meaningfully engaged into adulthood. Anticipated Outcomes The project activities are specifically designed and will be delivered to support participants to: • Develop participants self-knowledge of their identities and citizenship
• Break their personal cycle of self destruction
• Identify and avoid dysfunctional personalities
• Define reality for themselves from a position of strength
• Understand self-love
• Plan worthwhile and life goals
• Understand the benefits of sustained hard work
• Find a positive role model/mentor to look up to • Use relaxation and other therapies to manage behavior to sustain personal development.
PROGRAMMES & SPECIAL PROJECTS Group and Peer Mentoring We provide in-house and community mentoring services in one to one settings and group settings. All interventions are designed and facilitated to support young people seeking personal empowerment to develop their aspirations of personal growth and inner strength. Our mentoring concepts are very effective in helping youths to unleash their fullest potential as an individual or as a group with collective aims and goals. Sessions forms parts of specific programmes or are tailored to meet individual needs. Home and Away Project This is a youth crisis intervention service for young people whose siblings are on remand in youth institutions indefinitely of for fixed terms. We work with referred or self-referred youths who are suffering the effects of loss, grief, trauma, community stigma, isolation and victimisation from their peers due to the allegations made against or convictions of their siblings. Key interventions includes:
- One to one discussions and support needs assessments and evaluations
- Casework and advocacy support
- One to One peer mentoring and key work sessions
- Drama therapy
- Education and academic support
- Recreational activities
- Support to write home diaries, letters and accompanied custody visits
- Identifying and structuring education support needs - Rehabilitation management for youth offenders back into their homes and communities
A Stitch In Time
Stamped with Options 4 Change's ethos this compelling drama piece captures the spirit of youth culture in London's disadvantaged communities.
Options 4 Change's Youth Drama Team productions, A Stitch In Time performs to inspire and change lives.
Drama pieces delivers key messages about domestic violence, murder, drugs alcohol, crime, doing time, peer issues and communities effecting solutions for themselves.The youth drama team, performs to educate their peers and others about crime, on their door steps and how communities can empower youths and themselves to address their criminal detriments and develop safer communities to make a difference with positive actions against crime. The group has performed at a number of events and venues including The Ritzy Cinema Brixton. Themes are written by Donna Sinclair and directed by Ms Jacquline Mars an Actress and playwright who uses her talents to empower youths within their families and their communities.The group has performed at a number of events and venues including The Ritzy Cinema Brixton. Lunch time, evenings and week-end bookings are welcomed.

Mentoring Movements Check out the moves for motivation and meaningful engagement. Options 4 Change in house trained Dance Mentors uses dance and drama therapy to mentor their peers in times of crisis or for entrainment. The Troupes is led by Sheila Attah, a professional youth dance tutor who also trains professional dancers and musicians across Europe.The troupe are inspirational, skilled and awesome in their presentations. Stunts, swings, groves and drama interjections sends Strong messages to their audiences about the power of dance to entertain and bring people together. All members of the team trains young people to become volunteer dance trainers. Their ultimate focus to influence their peers to use dance as tool to develop their dancing talents and support others to become meaningfully inspired and motivated to " Change their Minds and Lives for Better".
